Connect an assistant with MCP

Use the production Streamable HTTP endpoint https://afterglow-lime.vercel.app/mcp. Sign in to your existing account through the OAuth consent page. The assistant can identify your account, read your available Legal, Money, Home and Coparenting checklists, and update an exact checklist item after you confirm it. Only the requested practical permissions are shared. Coaching, private notes, history and billing are unavailable through MCP.

OAuth discovery is available at /.well-known/oauth-protected-resource and /.well-known/oauth-authorization-server. Public clients use dynamic registration, exact registered callbacks, the resource https://afterglow-lime.vercel.app/mcp and S256 PKCE. Access credentials last one hour; rotating refresh credentials expire after 30 days. Revoking the connection in settings stops the whole credential family.

Try “Show the unfinished items in my Afterglow Money checklist” or “Mark this exact checklist item done.” Current account onboarding and plan limits apply. Keep each checklist disclaimer intact.

Start with checklists in another API client

  1. Finish setting up your account in the Afterglow app.
  2. Sign in to connections settings with your Afterglow email and password.
  3. Name the tool, choose its permissions and an expiry of 7, 30 or 90 days. Only checklist reads are selected by default.
  4. Copy the key once and store it in your tool’s secret storage. Send it in the x-api-key header over HTTPS.

Keep the key out of URLs, prompts, logs and shared documents. Never give a tool your account password or mobile session token. You can revoke its key in settings at any time.

curl https://afterglow-lime.vercel.app/api/v1/checklists/legal \
  -H 'x-api-key: YOUR_AFTERGLOW_KEY'

Choose what you share

Each key has only the permissions you select. Private content permissions begin unchecked and require a separate acknowledgement. A tool may retain information it receives; revoking a key stops future requests, not copies already shared.

Prompts to try

Your plan and safety resources still apply

Every request uses the account owner’s current plan. Free access remains available for eligible checklists, check-ins and capped coaching. Paid features remain gated. Coaching uses the same daily caps and cost controls as the app; connecting a tool does not buy anything or change a subscription.

Coach messages and check-in notes use the existing safety classifier before an ordinary reply. If classification is unavailable, the service takes the cautious safety route. Crisis support is not removed by coaching budget limits. A response may include a human-written safetyCard; show it with its contact options intact. Never hide it or replace it with an ordinary generated response.

Keys allow 60 requests per minute and expire within 90 days. A transport-limit response uses HTTP 429 and Retry-After: 60. Coach and check-in 429 responses include general safety resources, but the submitted message has not been classified or saved. Direct the person to Afterglow or those resources instead of retrying repeatedly.

HTTP 401 means the key is invalid, expired, revoked or missing a required permission. HTTP 402 means the current plan does not include the action. HTTP 403 means the action is unavailable to keys. See the specification for request and response schemas.

Account details, sign-in sessions, sealed letters, downloading coach history, billing, administration, scheduled jobs and deletion are unavailable to API keys.
